School for Christian Growth
Fall Semester 2011

The School for Christian Growth provides a variety of adult Christian education offerings in a small group setting, where participants can learn to apply biblical truth to practical aspects of life, meet new friends, and enjoy fellowship with one another.

Sign up by indicating your choice on our blue welcome cards during the Sunday morning service, through this web site, or by calling the church office (788-0970). We will send additional details regarding meeting places and study guides after you have registered.

Participants are asked to cover the cost of study guides or other recommended course materials. However, we don't want the cost of materials to prohibit anyone's participation. If assistance is needed, please let your group leader know.

101 - Passing the Baton
Sundays, 7 - 8:30pm — East Cary
Leaders: Cheryl Klassa

Dr. James Dobson has said that the greatest fear among parents today is the possibility that their kids could leave the faith. It is estimated that between 69% and 94% of churched young people are leaving the church after high school - and not returning. Don't let this happen to the kids in our church! The most effective way to ensure that it t is to personally reach out to every young person - to befriend, mentor, and coach them into successful adulthood. Come to the Passing the Baton Training Course beginning October 2nd and find out how much of a blessing it is to have a personal impact on the life of a young person.
102 - Deeper Devotion
Wednesdays, 6:30 - 8pm at the Church
Leader: Kadi Kool

Do you long to go deeper with Christ? What does true devotion mean? What does God desire/require of us? How do I surrender completely? Godly Christians throughout the ages have grappled with these same issues, and we will read what a few of them (from St. Augustine in the 4th century to Dallas Willard in the 20th) have written on the spiritual life. We will use the book Devotional Classics, edited by Richard J. Foster and James Bryan Smith to engage in discussion, reflection, and spiritual exercises. Join us.
103 - Women's Bible Study
Thursdays, 10:30am - 12 noon at the Church
Leader: S.K.Y. Woo

This group meets each week for Morning Prayer, a study/discussion of assigned topical Bible readings and commentary, and prayer for one another. There is an optional study for each day of the week, and the commentaries are drawn from the writings of a variety of Christian authors. We enjoy the continuity of a long-term group while welcoming others who may want to visit or join us.
