About Us

All that we do at Holy Cross proceeds from our common life of worship. We gather to celebrate Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, to receive timely encouragement and instruction from the Word of God, and to be nurtured in the sacramental life of the church. Our fellowship with one another and all of our endeavors in mission and ministry flow from this vital center.

We see ministry as the shared calling of all members of the Body of Christ. While we are grateful for a talented and dedicated staff, our church is not just about the giftedness of our leaders, but about the ministries that God is calling forth from all of our members. We believe that when the gifts of all members are being released, not just the gifts of the few, the Kingdom of God can make its greatest advances.

In March 2005, after fourteen years in the Episcopal Diocese of North Carolina, the leadership of Holy Cross discerned that God was calling us to seek alternative oversight. After four years under the gracious protection of the Anglican Province of Uganda, we rejoice that, in June 2009, the Church of Uganda was able to transfer us to the Diocese of the Holy Spirit in the newly-formed Anglican Church in North America.

While our history is still unfolding, we sense that the Lord has brought us to a new beginning, in which we are able to place renewed emphasis upon the primary elements of our calling: loving one another as Christ has loved us, and sharing the Gospel of Christ with others.
